MetaMask Confirms $30 Million Rewards Program But Warns Rumors Are Misleading

After weeks of speculation, MetaMask has officially confirmed that a rewards initiative is on the way, but the company cautions that many of the viral claims circulating online are inaccurate.

Recent social media posts claimed that users would soon be able to earn points by swapping or bridging assets through the MetaMask wallet, later redeemable for future token airdrops. In a post on X, the team clarified that while a reward system is indeed launching, its purpose has been misrepresented.

“Yes, an awards show is coming,” MetaMask stated. “But what you’ve heard or seen so far doesn’t necessarily align with what’s actually coming out.”

Introducing MetaMask Rewards: Season 1

The confirmed initiative, titled MetaMask Rewards, will focus primarily on community engagement rather than yield farming. The company revealed that over $30 million worth of LINEA tokens will be distributed during the first phase, known as Season 1.

According to MetaMask, the rewards program will feature multiple participation layers, including referral incentives, mUSD bonuses, exclusive partner rewards, and token-access opportunities. The rollout will occur in stages over the coming weeks, with detailed instructions expected soon.

MetaMask highlighted that long-time users will receive special recognition under the new system. “Those who have been with us for a long time will receive special benefits,” the company wrote, suggesting that MetaMask Rewards may form part of the ecosystem’s future token framework.

With speculation now confirmed, anticipation is rising within the DeFi community as MetaMask prepares to unveil the full scope of its most ambitious user rewards program to date.
