Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin Now Holds Over $1 Billion in Crypto
Ethereum’s recent rally has once again drawn attention to the personal fortune of its co-founder, Vitalik Buterin, with on-chain data confirming his crypto portfolio has now surpassed $1 billion.
Buterin’s largest holding is 240,042 ETH, valued at around $1.01 billion. His wallet also contains 2,906 AETHWETH (about $12 million), 10 billion WHITE tokens ($2.8 million), 30 billion MOODENG, 869,509 KNC, and smaller allocations in various altcoins.
Ethereum officially launched in 2015 following its 2014 Initial Coin Offering (ICO), where ETH was sold for just $0.31. This early fundraising method became a blueprint for countless blockchain startups. Today, Ethereum powers much of the decentralized finance (DeFi) industry, the NFT market, and a rapidly expanding range of enterprise blockchain solutions.
Beyond his wealth, Buterin is known for his philanthropic work, having donated hundreds of millions worth of crypto to causes including pandemic relief and AI safety research. As Ethereum continues to grow, Buterin remains both a technical leader and one of the most influential voices in the blockchain world.
In 2011, he co-founded Bitcoin Magazine, establishing himself as a respected voice in the emerging crypto community. By 2013, Buterin had released the Ethereum whitepaper, outlining a blockchain capable of running smart contracts – a major step beyond Bitcoin’s capabilities.
