Novatti launches AUDD on XRP Ledger, marking a major step for licensed stablecoins under Australia's new Digital Assets Framework Bill 2025.

The new token, AUDD, was developed by a subsidiary of the fintech group Novatti and represents one of the first fully licensed stablecoins in the country.

Institutional Payment Tool

Unlike many unregulated tokens on the market, AUDD is structured as an institutional payment tool. This means that major banks and licensed financial institutions in Australia can issue, hold, and use the digital Australian dollar directly on the blockchain.

Technologically, the XRP Ledger offers significant advantages for payment infrastructure—transactions are finalized in approximately 3 to 5 seconds, with fees costing only fractions of a cent. For institutions processing high volumes of payments, this efficiency represents a serious improvement over traditional payment systems.

Part of a Broader Regulatory Reform

The licensing of AUDD is part of a broader reform of crypto regulation in Australia. The “Corporations Amendment (Digital Assets Framework) Bill 2025” aims to place crypto platforms under rules similar to those for traditional financial institutions.

According to the proposed rules, platforms that hold more than $5,000 per client or process over $10 million in annual transactions will be required to hold an AFSL license. This move will bring a large portion of the local crypto industry under official regulatory oversight.

Expanding the Stablecoin Ecosystem

In addition to AUDD, the regulator has created conditions for the easier distribution of other licensed stablecoins. These include AUDM, issued by Catena Digital, as well as AUDF, developed by Forte Securities.

Analysts suggest this development shows how the XRP Ledger is gradually positioning itself as institutional payment infrastructure rather than just an experimental network. It serves as a signal of deeper integration between traditional financial systems and digital assets.
