Samsung Wallet Adds USDC Support to Onboard 1 Billion Users
Samsung integrates USDC into Samsung Wallet, allowing over 1 billion devices to manage stablecoins alongside traditional financial services via Samsung Knox.
Announced during the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in London, Samsung’s latest update marks a significant move by tech giants to transform digital wallets into universal financial platforms.
Samsung Expands Wallet Capabilities
According to information from O Daily, Samsung demonstrated a new USDC (USD Coin) interface during the event. This feature allows users to send, receive, and top up stablecoin balances directly within the Samsung Wallet ecosystem.
While the company has not named an exclusive issuance partner, it confirmed that the application will support “new forms of digital value,” pushing the app’s utility well beyond traditional mobile payments.
This new functionality enables users to manage bank cards, loyalty programs, digital assets, and upcoming blockchain services within a single environment. This eliminates the need for separate crypto wallets or third-party applications for basic digital asset management.
Over One Billion Devices Gain Access
With more than 1 billion active devices globally, Samsung possesses one of the largest consumer ecosystems in the industry. This scale positions the company as a potentially decisive factor in driving mainstream stablecoin adoption.
Unlike previous models that required users to install specialized apps for digital assets, Samsung is integrating this functionality directly into the wallet already used for mobile payments, digital IDs, boarding passes, and digital keys for cars and homes.
Samsung Doubles Down on Hardware Security
The company emphasized that all financial data, cryptographic keys, and future digital assets will be protected by Samsung Knox.
The platform utilizes hardware-based protection and end-to-end encryption. The goal is to provide a higher tier of security for storing crypto assets and executing transactions compared to software-only solutions.
This hardware-centric approach is critical for integrating blockchain services into mass-market devices, where protecting user funds remains a primary challenge for widespread adoption.
Building a Broader Financial Ecosystem
Beyond the stablecoin integration, Samsung also introduced the Samsung Galaxy Card—the company’s first financial card for the U.S. market, developed in collaboration with Barclays and Visa.
The card will be tightly integrated with Samsung Wallet, offering cashback programs, promotional deals, and additional financial services.
The combination of traditional payment tools and blockchain features suggests Samsung is systematically evolving Wallet from a simple payment app into a sophisticated digital financial hub.
While Samsung did not provide a specific release date, it stated that the rollout will begin in phases across selected markets. Local regulatory requirements will dictate the pace of the expansion. If successful, Samsung could become the first major smartphone manufacturer to integrate native stablecoin support into a standard wallet app, signaling a new era of convergence between traditional finance and digital assets.
