Ripple Treasury Debuts Governed AI for Corporate Finance
Ripple Treasury launches industry-first governed AI for enterprise, integrating GTreasury tech to manage $12.5T in payment volume without sacrificing control.
The system is designed to analyze liquidity, risk, and cash flows, yet it leaves the final decision-making regarding fund movements strictly in the hands of financial teams.
AI Proposes, Humans Decide
The latest iteration of GSmart utilizes specialized agents that monitor individual processes within a corporate treasury, identifying potential issues and suggesting specific actions. For every recommendation provided, the system explicitly cites the specific internal company policy upon which the suggestion is based.
A critical safeguard in this architecture is that these agents cannot independently transfer funds or execute financial operations. Every proposal must be sent to an authorized employee for approval before any action is taken.
This design is vital for corporate finance, where an AI error could lead to incorrect transfers or multi-million dollar hedging mistakes. Consequently, Ripple separates traditional deterministic calculations from the less predictable work of artificial intelligence: software handles financial values, while AI interprets policies, recognizes patterns, and explains recommendations.
Internal Policies Integrated into AI
Control is centered in the “Knowledge Studio,” where financial teams define their internal policies, limits, and rules. Every agent proposal is cross-referenced against these parameters before reaching an employee for sign-off.
Ripple has also introduced “Analytics Studio” featuring Ask GSmart, which allows users to query the system using natural language, extract key metrics, and generate financial reports from a unified corporate database.
Early data suggests strong interest in these specialized AI functions. Approximately 60% of eligible clients have already activated “Risk Insights,” which identifies unusual exposures and policy violations, while 44% utilize “Forecast Insights” to compare projected versus actual cash flows. Ripple did not disclose the absolute number of clients represented by these percentages.
A $1 Billion Deal Opens New Markets
GSmart was not developed entirely post-acquisition. GTreasury originally introduced the technology in June 2025, and Ripple acquired the company for approximately $1 billion in October of the same year. This expansion demonstrates how Ripple is leveraging the acquisition to position itself beyond its core blockchain payments business.
Ripple Treasury now consolidates cash management, payments, risk, and liquidity into a single platform, providing a unified view of both traditional and digital assets. The platform boasts $12.5 trillion in payment volume and maintains connections with 13,000 banks.
Growth Does Not Guarantee XRP Demand
While the expansion of GSmart strengthens Ripple’s enterprise division, the connection to XRP should be viewed as a separate matter. In the September 10 announcement, the company did not list XRP or RLUSD as requirements for the AI agents, nor did it claim they are used for the settlement of proposed operations.
For now, the primary impact is strategic: Ripple is transforming the GTreasury acquisition into infrastructure that unites traditional corporate finance, digital assets, and AI in a single environment. Whether this eventually drives direct demand for XRP or RLUSD will depend on how Ripple integrates its own digital assets into the actual payment and liquidity workflows of its corporate clients.
