Bitget Secures FSPR Registration in New Zealand Expansion
Bitget expands its global footprint by registering with New Zealand's FSPR, offering a broader range of financial services and consumer protections.
The new status allows the company to offer a broader range of financial services to the local market and forms part of its strategy to build a global infrastructure combining digital assets and traditional finance.
New Registration Expands Bitget Operations
Bitget is now listed on the Financial Service Providers Register (FSPR) in New Zealand, enabling the firm to expand its operations in the country in compliance with the local regulatory framework.
The registration covers a wide spectrum of financial services, including foreign currency exchange, domestic and international money transfers, asset custody, portfolio management, and the execution of transactions in financial instruments and currency on behalf of clients.
This move positions Bitget among the crypto companies establishing a locally regulated presence in key markets rather than serving customers solely through offshore structures.
Focus on Regulatory Compliance Intensifies
As part of its new obligations, Bitget has also joined the independent “Insurance and Financial Services Ombudsman (IFSO) Dispute Resolution Scheme.”
This provides clients with access to an external dispute resolution mechanism, representing an additional layer of regulatory consumer protection.
Such mechanisms are increasingly becoming a standard requirement for licensed financial providers as regulators place greater emphasis on transparency and the protection of client funds.
Bridging Crypto and Traditional Finance
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen described the registration as a significant step toward the company’s vision of becoming a universal exchange.
The concept involves creating a unified platform that integrates cryptocurrency trading, tokenized real-world assets (RWA), and traditional financial instruments into a shared infrastructure. This reflects a broader industry trend where major crypto exchanges are gradually expanding beyond spot and derivatives trading toward closer integration with traditional capital markets.
Regulation as a Competitive Advantage
The New Zealand registration is the latest milestone in Bitget’s global strategy to expand its licensed presence across various jurisdictions.
With stricter regulatory regimes emerging worldwide, crypto companies are increasingly investing in local licenses and compliance with national requirements to secure long-term access to key markets.
For Bitget, this is more than just a regulatory milestone; it is part of a wider transformation in the crypto industry. Exchanges are striving to position themselves as full-scale financial service providers capable of handling both digital assets and the next generation of tokenized investment products.
