Alpaca Secures $435M to Scale AI-Driven Brokerage and RWA
Alpaca secures $435M in funding led by Peak XV Partners to scale AI-native brokerage infrastructure and RWA tokenization for institutional clients.
New capital is flowing into the sector as traditional financial institutions move to integrate blockchain technology and bring real-world asset (RWA) tokenization into practical use.
Alpaca Accelerates AI Brokerage Infrastructure Development
The funding round was led by Peak XV Partners with participation from Elefund. The total capital secured reaches $435 million, which includes $300 million in debt financing provided by Payward—the parent company of crypto exchange Kraken—and BMO.
These funds will expand Alpaca’s brokerage infrastructure, specifically focusing on an “agent-first” model. This platform enables autonomous AI systems to analyze markets, interface with brokerage services, and execute investment strategies without human intervention.
The company reports that active users of its Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) have nearly quadrupled over the last six months. Management views this growth as a clear signal of rising demand for automated financial services among fintech firms and institutional clients.
Tokenization Becomes a Primary Growth Driver
This funding round arrives just one day after the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) announced the first live trades involving tokenized stocks and U.S. Treasuries. Alpaca is a participant in this initiative, which seeks to migrate traditional financial assets onto blockchain infrastructure while maintaining the existing regulatory framework.
Alpaca is building a platform that merges clearing, custody, and programmable market access through a single API. This setup allows crypto exchanges, fintech companies, and banks to offer tokenized stocks and other traditional instruments to their customers with significantly less friction.
According to Alpaca, assets under custody backing its tokenized shares have already surpassed $1.5 billion, highlighting the rapid expansion of this market segment.
Continuing International Expansion
Alongside its technological investments, Alpaca is pushing its global footprint. Over the past year, the firm acquired licensed broker-dealers in the UK and Europe and established a presence in India’s financial hub, GIFT City.
In January 2026, Alpaca closed a $150 million funding round that valued the company at approximately $1.15 billion. Since then, revenue growth has remained aggressive, with the firm reporting a doubling of annual revenue for three consecutive years.
The Race for Tokenized Market Infrastructure
This fresh capital underscores the intensifying competition to build the foundation for next-generation capital markets. Rather than launching its own trading platform, Alpaca positions itself as a technology provider, offering the regulatory and technical groundwork for banks, brokers, and crypto firms.
The development aligns with a surge in RWA tokenization interest. In recent weeks, major players including DTCC, Securitize, and Cantor Fitzgerald have announced initiatives to move stocks, bonds, and initial public offerings (IPOs) onto blockchain networks.
As autonomous AI systems and tokenized securities gain traction, companies like Alpaca aim to serve as the infrastructure layer connecting traditional capital markets with the blockchain ecosystem. If these trends persist, API-based brokerage services could become the standard for modern financial applications.
