Tokyo Based Company Invests $17 Million in XRP to Expand Digital Finance Reach
Tokyo-based game developer Gumi Inc. is making a bold entry into the digital asset sector with plans to purchase approximately 2.5 billion yen ($17 million) worth of XRP.
The acquisition will be spread across five months, beginning in September 2025 and continuing through February 2026.
Beyond price speculation
Unlike many corporate crypto moves, Gumi stressed that its decision is not a short-term bet on market fluctuations. Instead, the firm sees XRP as a strategic foothold in global remittance and liquidity services, positioning the token as a tool to diversify revenue streams in financial markets rather than simply an asset to hold.
Focus on international payments
In its statement, the company explained that XRP’s established role in cross-border payments makes it an ideal gateway into the broader financial ecosystem. By aligning with XRP’s infrastructure, Gumi aims to tie its digital initiatives directly to new financial service opportunities, complementing its existing gaming and tech ventures.
Strategic significance
According to Gumi, joining the XRP ecosystem means tapping into the same networks that support international settlement and liquidity flow. The move highlights how non-financial firms are increasingly seeking exposure to blockchain infrastructure not only as investors, but as participants in reshaping global financial services.
