This latest move comes as Metaplanet continues to position itself as Japan’s answer to MicroStrategy, leveraging capital markets to expand its Bitcoin reserves. The company has used share issuances and treasury strategies to steadily increase its exposure since officially adopting Bitcoin as part of its balance sheet policy in December 2024.
By focusing on long-term accumulation, Metaplanet aims to benefit from Bitcoin’s potential as a strategic hedge against inflation and currency volatility. With its holdings now at the symbolic 20,000 BTC milestone, the firm is signaling its commitment to integrating Bitcoin deeply into its corporate structure.
As global institutional adoption accelerates, Metaplanet’s aggressive Bitcoin strategy could serve as a model for other publicly traded companies in Asia.
