NEAR Protocol price jumps over 80% this week as the network launches confidential perpetual futures in collaboration with Hyperliquid infrastructure.

The recent NEAR rally coincided with the launch of a new perpetual futures product, which merges Hyperliquid infrastructure with NEAR technology for confidential transactions.

Price charts indicate that the bulk of the movement developed after September 17. NEAR first climbed past the $3 mark before consolidating between $3.50 and $3.80. On September 20, the price accelerated sharply above $4.20. After reaching this weekly peak, the token saw a minor retracement toward approximately $4.00.

This leaves the token significantly higher than its levels at the start of the week, though part of the appreciation aligns with a broader recovery across the cryptocurrency market.

Privacy Without Hiding the Market

The primary product catalyst is the September 17 launch of perpetual futures featuring a “confidential-by-default” model. NEAR presents this as a way for traders to utilize derivatives without publicly linking their wallets or funding sources to specific positions.

However, this does not mean trades vanish from the market. Positions and orders continue to be executed via Hyperliquid and remain part of its market infrastructure. The confidentiality layer simply severs the public connection between the deposit, the account, and the corresponding position.

Hyperliquid Powers the Liquidity

NEAR is not building a separate derivatives market from scratch. Instead, the product leverages Hyperliquid for perpetual trade execution, while NEAR Intents manages the movement of funds and the privacy layer.

The integration offers:

  • Access to over 50 perpetual markets.
  • Funding with assets from more than 35 blockchains.
  • Automated collateral conversion.
  • Leverage up to 40x on supported markets.

By doing so, NEAR attempts to combine the liquidity of an established derivatives market with its own cross-chain infrastructure, rather than trying to lure traders to an entirely new exchange.

A Rally Beyond Product News

While the launch of “confidential perpetuals” coincided with a sharp price acceleration, it cannot alone account for the entire weekly growth. Data from September 18 showed NEAR with a roughly 46% weekly increase in the early stages of the rally, while daily volume reached approximately $1.8 billion.

Activity surrounding NEAR Intents is also on the rise. Network data reveals over $30 billion in accumulated cross-chain volume, as the infrastructure for confidential operations attracts more capital.

Following a move of over 80% in a single week, the focus is shifting from the announcement to actual product utility. If “confidential perpetuals” can attract sustained volume, they may establish a new role for NEAR as an infrastructure layer sitting between on-chain liquidity, privacy, and Hyperliquid markets.
