Coinbase expands in the UK, allowing users to trade 4,000+ US stocks and ETFs alongside crypto with 24/5 access and USDC funding options.

The new service is part of the company’s strategy to transform its platform into a universal hub for trading both digital and traditional financial assets.

Coinbase Unites Stocks and Cryptocurrencies in One Platform

This new functionality allows customers in the UK to trade US stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) directly within the app they already use to buy and store cryptocurrencies.

According to Coinbase, users will be able to manage traditional investments and digital assets from a single wallet, eliminating the need for separate brokerage platforms. The company describes this model as the next step toward building an “Everything Exchange,” where different asset classes coexist within a single ecosystem.

The platform offers access to nearly 4,000 US stocks and ETFs. Investors can get started with as little as £1 through fractional share purchases.

24/5 Trading and USDC Payments

A primary feature of the service is its extended trading hours.

Users can trade 24 hours a day, five days a week, covering pre-market sessions, regular trading hours, after-hours, and overnight sessions. This provides Coinbase users with access to the US capital markets throughout the entire work week.

The company has also eliminated transaction commissions. Clients can fund their accounts using British Pounds (GBP) or the USDC stablecoin. Coinbase One subscribers will receive additional incentives, including rewards on their USDC balances, which can then be deployed into investments.

Expanding Beyond Cryptocurrencies

The launch represents a significant move in Coinbase’s efforts to diversify its business beyond crypto trading and compete directly with traditional investment platforms.

For UK clients, the service is provided via “CB Payments Ltd,” which is licensed and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Execution, clearing, and custody of securities are handled by Apex Clearing Corporation.

This shift comes as competition between crypto platforms increasingly moves toward offering a broader suite of financial services.

By combining crypto assets, US stocks, and ETFs in one application, Coinbase aims to attract investors seeking a unified platform for their entire portfolio, rather than spreading assets across multiple brokers and crypto exchanges.

Amid market volatility and uncertainty, choosing a secure crypto wallet remains critical for investors. For a detailed analysis of asset protection solutions, see the article “The Best Crypto Wallets for 2026,” which explores various options based on security, convenience, and functionality.
