BNB Chain Unveils New Layer 1 for AI-Driven Agentic Trading
BNB Chain is developing a new Layer 1 blockchain for autonomous AI agents, targeting 100,000 TPS and a 2027 mainnet launch to power agentic commerce.
According to information from The Block, a new network is under development to serve applications requiring ultra-low latency and massive throughput. The development team aims for a full mainnet launch by 2027.
New Infrastructure for Autonomous AI Agents
The upcoming blockchain is engineered to merge the benefits of decentralized asset ownership with the execution speed typical of centralized crypto exchanges. Developers state the primary objective is to create an environment where autonomous AI agents can execute trades almost instantly without sacrificing self-custody of funds.
The network architecture is designed to process over 100,000 transactions per second (TPS), achieving block finality in less than a second. Furthermore, transaction pre-confirmations are expected to take under 50 milliseconds. This performance would bring the user experience closer to that of a centralized exchange, but without the need to transfer assets to a third-party custodian.
This new Layer 1 blockchain will become the fourth network within the BNB Chain ecosystem. It will be closely integrated with the BNB Smart Chain, which will continue to serve as the primary layer for final settlement.
Advanced Tech for Rapid and Secure Transactions
To reach these ambitious speeds, BNB Chain plans to eliminate the traditional public “mempool”—the waiting area where unconfirmed transactions usually sit before being processed.
Instead, the network will utilize a mechanism called TxStream. This system sends requests directly to the validator responsible for producing the next block. This approach significantly reduces latency and limits the potential for “sandwich” attacks, where malicious actors exploit pending transaction data to profit at the expense of other users.
Another vital component is PriorityLane technology. This feature reserves a portion of each block’s capacity for mission-critical operations, such as price oracle updates, liquidations, and cross-chain transfers. This ensures that essential trades are never delayed during periods of high network congestion.
BNB Chain Bets on the Future of the AI Economy
The project is a cornerstone of BNB Chain’s broader strategy to build infrastructure for “agentic commerce.” This economic model envisions autonomous AI agents independently performing financial operations, managing capital, and interacting with various blockchain applications.
Earlier this month, the ecosystem introduced BNB Agent Studio, a platform that enables the creation of AI agents using simple text commands. These agents receive their own on-chain identity via the ERC-8004 standard, allowing them to autonomously manage expenses, including payments for large language models (LLMs) and other digital services.
The new Layer 1 blockchain serves as a natural extension of this vision. Developers believe future AI agents will require infrastructure capable of handling a massive volume of transactions with minimal delay and predictable execution—requirements that traditional blockchains struggle to meet.
If the project meets its milestones, BNB Chain will be among the first major ecosystems to deploy a blockchain specifically built for autonomous AI applications rather than adapting existing legacy infrastructure. The testnet is scheduled for release by late 2026, followed by the mainnet launch in 2027.
