Ethereum Leaders Urge Shift Toward 2025 Fusaka Upgrade Over Future Plans
Ethereum’s development community is being told to refocus on near-term goals, as foundation leadership warns that too much attention on future releases could slow critical progress.
Tomasz Stańczak, Co-Executive Director at the Ethereum Foundation, has recommended pausing active discussions on Glamsterdam, an upgrade scheduled for 2026, so that all resources can be directed toward completing Fusaka before the end of 2025.
Although Fusaka is already running on testnet, Stańczak noted that lingering development bottlenecks require immediate resolution to keep the rollout on track.
The Fusaka upgrade promises major performance and scalability improvements, including Peer Data Availability Sampling for more efficient data handling, revised gas limits, and fine-tuned blob parameters. These changes are expected to strengthen Ethereum’s competitiveness as demand for faster, more cost-effective blockchain solutions grows.
While Glamsterdam remains on the long-term roadmap, Stańczak emphasized that Ethereum’s credibility depends on meeting its current deadlines. Delivering Fusaka on time, he said, is essential to sustaining momentum in a crowded and rapidly evolving blockchain landscape.
