Hamster Kombat, a popular Telegram game, announced the launch of its HMSTR token on The Open Network (TON) on September 26, accompanied by an airdrop for its players.
Allegedly the game has gained 300 million players since its debut this spring.
Originally, the HMSTR token was set to launch in July, but the airdrop was delayed. Hamster Kombat is a straightforward project built around the tap-to-win gameplay style, which gained popularity on Telegram earlier this year with the Notcoin game.
Notcoin helped set the stage for similar games, drawing in 35 million players and launching one of the year’s most successful gaming tokens.
This announcement follows a major network outage on TON the day before, caused by congestion related to the token launch of another project called DOGS. A TON representative confirmed that the network issues have been resolved and operations are back to normal.
