Nate Geraci, CEO of ETF Store and a prominent voice in the cryptocurrency space, recently outlined his predictions for the crypto market in 2025, focusing on developments in the exchange-traded fund (ETF) sector.
Geraci, closely followed for his insights on Bitcoin and Ethereum Spot ETFs, shared a ranked list of forecasts based on his confidence in their likelihood.
At the top of his predictions is the approval of ETFs combining spot Bitcoin and Ethereum. Geraci expressed high confidence in this outcome, noting that both cryptocurrencies already have individual spot ETFs, making a combined product a logical next step.
Next, Geraci foresees the introduction of options trading for Ethereum Spot ETFs, similar to how options for Bitcoin Spot ETFs were approved long after their initial launch. He believes this development could significantly enhance the appeal of Ethereum ETFs.
Another prediction involves the approval of in-kind payments for spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. Currently, the SEC mandates cash payments for these ETFs, but in-kind payments could offer tax advantages, potentially making these investment vehicles more attractive to institutional and retail investors alike.
Geraci also highlighted the possibility of enabling staking for Ethereum Spot ETFs, which has been prohibited under current SEC guidelines. If allowed, staking could add another layer of utility and yield potential for investors in Ethereum ETFs.
His final prediction, which he considers the least certain, is the approval of spot Solana ETFs. While Solana has faced regulatory scrutiny, Geraci suggests that the SEC under the Trump administration might adopt a more favorable stance toward the asset.
Despite varying confidence levels, Geraci believes all of these changes could materialize in 2025, signaling a year of potential breakthroughs for the cryptocurrency ETF market.
