While many in the hedge fund world remain hesitant about Bitcoin’s long-term relevance, especially beyond the Trump era, Eric Semler is moving in the opposite direction—and doing so aggressively.
The chairman of Semler Scientific and founder of TCS Capital Management sees skepticism in the financial establishment not as a warning, but as a signal to double down.
Speaking during an interview with Natalie Brunell, Semler noted that many of his peers view Bitcoin as a passing trend, one that might fade once the current U.S. political climate changes. He disagrees completely. In fact, he’s positioning his company to massively scale its BTC holdings, aiming to accumulate 105,000 Bitcoin by the end of 2026, up from just over 4,400 today. His short-term goal? 10,000 BTC by year’s end.
Semler’s commitment comes as questions swirl about the durability of government backing for crypto. Although the Trump administration recently endorsed a Bitcoin strategic reserve, figures like JAN3’s Samson Mow have raised concerns that a change in leadership could undo that support. Semler, however, appears unfazed, citing his experience betting against consensus—and winning.
In his view, market hesitation is often the breeding ground for the highest returns. He described his approach as deliberately contrarian, saying some of his most successful investments were made when he was virtually alone in his conviction. He believes Bitcoin now fits that mold perfectly.
Semler’s aggressive posture also aligns with broader trends. According to a 2024 report by PwC and the Alternative Investment Management Association, nearly half of hedge fund managers now hold some exposure to crypto—up from 29% in 2023. Meanwhile, a 2021 Intertrust Global survey found that 98% of CFOs at major hedge funds expected to allocate around 7.2% of assets to digital currencies by 2026.
While Wall Street waits on clarity, Semler is acting—and betting that time will prove him right.
Bitcoin touched a new all-time high of $118,000, but what truly fueled the rally?
Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, has revealed he bought more Bitcoin at $110,000 and is now positioning himself for what macro investor Raoul Pal calls the “Banana Zone” — the parabolic phase of the market cycle when FOMO takes over.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a massive influx of over $1 billion in a single day on Thursday, fueled by Bitcoin’s surge to a new all-time high above $118,000.
As Bitcoin breaks above $118,000, fresh macro and on-chain data suggest the rally may still be in its early innings.
