Pavel Durov’s Legal Issues Stir Concerns in Crypto Market

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov is facing legal issues across Europe, sparking concern in the cryptocurrency sector.

In France, Durov is under indictment and has been banned from leaving the country, with bail set at €5 million. He is accused of involvement in criminal activities through Telegram, though his lawyer calls the charges baseless.

Durov is also being investigated in India and the European Union, and faces a separate complaint in Switzerland related to child abuse.

These legal problems are creating uncertainty for investors in Toncoin, a cryptocurrency linked to Telegram. Major investors, including Pantera Capital and Animoca Brands, have invested heavily in Toncoin, but the token has recently dropped 15% in value.

Some investors remain hopeful, but others, like Lasse Clausen of 1kx, warn that the situation could lead to significant market disruption.

Despite the challenges surrounding Durov, Toncoin is largely separate from Telegram’s legal issues. Experts believe the cryptocurrency can continue to grow independently. Meanwhile, the broader crypto market shows mixed reactions, with Bitcoin and Ethereum demonstrating some resilience.
