The UFC's official Instagram was hijacked last night, with cybercriminals using the account to advertise a fraudulent memecoin.
Officials confirmed to MMA Junkie that the breach occurred at 8:40 PM ET.
The unauthorized post remained visible for over an hour, urging fans to “own the legacy” with a new digital token. A similar promotion appeared in the account’s Instagram story, yet the UFC made no immediate public statement, fueling speculation online.
Some users questioned if the post was truly a hack or an intentional stunt, with one commenting, “This seems like something Dana White would do.”
The incident reflects a growing trend of unexpected crypto launches. Donald Trump’s TRUMP token was announced via social media instead of official government channels, causing confusion. Similarly, Vine co-founder Rus Yusupov’s surprise token release was met with skepticism, forcing him to confirm its legitimacy in a video.
