Reddit’s Collectible Avatars NFT program faces uncertainty as the project’s head, Bianca Wyler, confirmed her departure from the company.
In a LinkedIn post on January 6, Wyler reflected on her achievements, expressing pride in her work while acknowledging the transition as part of the natural evolution of tech companies.
Wyler’s exit has raised questions among NFT holders about the program’s future. Her recent activity on Reddit, including deleted comments, has fueled speculation that the platform might deprioritize the initiative.
Launched in 2022, the Collectible Avatars, hosted on the Polygon blockchain, were initially celebrated for their unique designs and perks like profile enhancements. However, sales and trading activity have significantly slowed since their peak in late 2022
Wyler, who joined Reddit in mid-2024, took on the challenge of reviving the program during a downturn in the NFT market. She claimed to have improved community engagement and increased sales within months of taking the role. Despite her departure, Wyler expressed confidence that Reddit would continue to prioritize its community, which she called the driving force behind its success.
Reddit has not issued a statement regarding the program’s future, leaving its millions of NFT holders waiting for clarity.
