Four Arrested in Kyiv for Bitcoin-Related Murder

Kyiv authorities have arrested four individuals in connection with the abduction and murder of a 29-year-old foreign national.

The crime, which was premeditated and driven by a motive involving nearly 3 Bitcoins (BTC), occurred in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv. Residents alerted police after witnessing a violent incident late at night, including screams and a man being dragged into a vehicle.

A comprehensive manhunt was quickly initiated across Kyiv and nearby areas. The suspects, aged 24 to 29, had meticulously planned the crime. They followed the victim to his home after learning he owned Bitcoin.

Once there, they assaulted him, forced him into a secluded location, and demanded he transfer his BTC into their wallet before killing him. To obscure their tracks, they altered their vehicle’s appearance, disposed of the body in a forest, and converted the stolen cryptocurrency into cash.

The KORD special unit, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, arrested the suspects and recovered money, the crime vehicle, and other key evidence.

The individuals face charges including robbery, kidnapping, murder for financial gain, and concealing their crimes. The investigation continues as authorities work to fully resolve the case.
