SEC Delays Decision on BlackRock’s Ethereum ETF Options Proposal

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has postponed its review of a proposed rule change that would permit Nasdaq ISE, LLC to list and trade options on BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust.

Initially scheduled for September 26, the decision has now been delayed until November 10, 2024. This extension gives the SEC more time to evaluate the proposal, which could lead to notable shifts in the Ethereum options market.

In a recent SEC filing, it was revealed that the proposal for options on BlackRock’s Spot Ethereum ETF has been delayed due to procedural reasons.

Nasdaq ISE, LLC had submitted an application to amend its listing rules to include these options, but the SEC decided to prolong the review period.

The regulatory body emphasized that this additional time is necessary to carefully assess the rule change.

The extended deadline is part of the standard regulatory framework that governs the introduction of new financial products, particularly those related to cryptocurrencies like Ethereum.
