Nvidia has denied rumors of receiving a subpoena from the US Department of Justice (DOJ) regarding antitrust issues.
This clarification came after a Bloomberg report suggested that the company may be involved in a DOJ investigation, which many believe led to a drop in Nvidia’s stock price.
In response, Nvidia said it had contacted the U.S. Department of Justice and had not received any subpoenas, adding that it remained open to answering any regulatory questions.
The Bloomberg report suggested that Nvidia’s dominant position in the AI chip market, where it controls over 80%, may have sparked the DOJ’s interest, especially since competitors such as AMD and Intel are only now starting to catch up.
While Nvidia confirmed that it had not received a formal subpoena, an anonymous source later said that the DOJ had issued a civil investigative demand that was less formal but still required the company to provide specific documents or information.
