Binance has officially announced its support for the upcoming token swap, redenomination, and rebranding of Maker (MKR) to a new token named Sky (SKY).
As part of the transition, MKR holders will receive SKY tokens at a conversion ratio of 1 MKR = 24,000 SKY. The rebranded SKY token will begin trading on Binance on September 17, 2025, with new trading pairs including SKY/BTC, SKY/TRY, SKY/USDC, and SKY/USDT.
All MKR spot trading pairs will be delisted on September 15, 2025, at 03:00 UTC, and deposits/withdrawals of MKR will be disabled at 03:30 UTC on the same day. Users must ensure all MKR deposits are completed before this time, as any late deposits will be rejected.
Additionally, Binance clarified that the ticker SKY was previously used by Skycoin, which was delisted in 2021. To avoid confusion, existing Skycoin (SKY) tokens will be renamed SKYCOIN, with a 1:1 swap taking place from July 21 to July 25, 2025.
Binance will handle all technical aspects of the swaps for users and will notify the community once SKY withdrawals are enabled. Users are encouraged to check the project team’s announcements for further details.
