The final day of trading for the Bitwise Dogecoin ETF on NYSE Arca will be October 14, with the final closure scheduled for October 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fund Fails to Gain Scale<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The decision comes just 10 months after BWOW debuted on November 25, 2025. Bitwise cited<\/a><\/strong> the optimization of its product suite to meet changing investor needs as the primary reason, without linking the closure to any regulatory issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Data from the fund itself highlights the core challenge. As of September 8, net assets totaled just $721,815, distributed across 50,000 shares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BWOW holds approximately 8.2 million DOGE, with a market value of roughly $721,878. The product carries an annual fee of 0.34%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maintaining an exchange-traded product at this size is economically difficult, as administrative, custodial, auditing, and listing costs must be covered by a relatively small asset base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investors Have Until October 14<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

BWOW will continue trading until the end of the session on October 14. Following this, the fund will cease operations, and the creation of new shares will stop before the market opens on October 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investors who remain in the fund do not need to take further action. They will receive cash for their shares based on the net asset value as of October 21, with payments planned for October 22. Bitwise stated it is coordinating the delisting process with the NYSE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BWOW Lost Approximately 45% Since Launch<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Weak interest coincided with unfavorable performance for Dogecoin. By the end of August, BWOW\u2019s net asset value had dropped 45.37% since inception, while the market price of the shares fell by 45.92%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of September 8, a single share had a NAV of $14.44 against a market price of $14.25, representing a discount of approximately 1.29% to the net asset value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time of writing, DOGE is trading around $0.083 and has dropped out of the top ten largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. Total trading volume for U.S. Dogecoin ETFs stands at approximately $300 million, significantly lower than newer altcoin products tied to Hyperliquid and Zcash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not Every Crypto ETF Attracts Capital<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The liquidation of BWOW highlights a growing divide in the U.S. crypto ETF market. Expanding access to exchange-traded products for more tokens does not guarantee sufficient demand for every fund to reach a sustainable size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The problem is particularly evident with BWOW: assets under $1 million leave the fund far from the scale of leading crypto ETFs and severely limit fee revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With assets under management (AUM) of approximately $722,000 and an annual fee of 0.34%, the fund generates only about $2,450 in annual fee revenue if the fund size remains unchanged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Bitwise is not retreating from the crypto ETF market. The company manages approximately $9 billion in client assets across more than 70 products, making the closure of BWOW an example of product selection within a growing lineup rather than a shift in the firm\u2019s overall strategy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
