Alongside its ongoing purchases, Bitmine is expanding its staking operations and continuing an aggressive buyback program for its own shares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bitmine Now Controls 4.8% of the Ethereum Supply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As of August 9, the company holds 5,805,238 ETH, valued at a price of $1,928 per token. This represents approximately 4.8% of the total circulating supply of 120.7 million ETH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to claims from Bitmine<\/a><\/strong>, they have completed 96% of their \u201cAlchemy of 5%\u201d strategy, which aims to accumulate 5% of all ETH in circulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pace of this accumulation is unusual for a public company. Bitmine launched its strategy on June 30, 2025, and according to Chairman Tom Lee, the firm has been purchasing ETH every week for the past 14 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While recent purchases have been relatively small compared to the existing reserve, they demonstrate that the company has not halted its accumulation as it nears its target level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond Ethereum, the balance sheet includes 209 BTC, a $180 million investment in Beast Industries, and a $69 million stake in Eightco Holdings. Cash and marketable securities total $104 million, bringing the total value of crypto assets, liquid funds, and other investments to approximately $11.6 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over $9.8 Billion in ETH Already Staked<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The size of the reserve is only one aspect of the strategy. Bitmine has already staked 5,067,309 ETH, valued at roughly $9.8 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This accounts for approximately 87% of all the tokens the company currently holds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a reported seven-day annualized yield of 2.63%, the current staking volume suggests about $257 million in annual revenue, according to Bitmine\u2019s calculations. If the entire Ethereum reserve were staked at a similar yield, the company estimates potential annual rewards of approximately $294 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Part of this infrastructure operates through MAVAN, the \u201cMade in America Validator Network.\u201d The platform was initially developed for Bitmine\u2019s own assets, but the company plans to offer it to institutional investors, custodians, and other ecosystem participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This shift moves the model away from pure ETH holding. Staking transforms a large portion of the balance sheet into a yield-bearing asset, though revenue remains dependent on Ethereum reward rates and the market price of the leading altcoin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Share Buybacks Continue Alongside ETH Purchases<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bitmine is also deploying capital on the other side of its balance sheet. Over the past week, the company repurchased 3 million common shares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the beginning of July, the total number of repurchased shares has reached 19.1 million under a previously approved buyback program valued at up to $4 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tom Lee justified these actions by stating management\u2019s belief that the shares remain undervalued. For investors, the combination is unique: Bitmine is simultaneously increasing its core crypto reserve and reducing the number of shares in circulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company now enjoys broader access to traditional capital markets. Bitmine was included in the Russell 1000 on June 26, and its \u201cSeries A\u201d preferred stock trades on the NYSE under the symbol BMNP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strong July for ETH Supports Company Strategy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Management also framed recent actions within the context of Ethereum\u2019s performance. According to Bitmine, ETH outperformed the Nasdaq 100 by 2,500 basis points in July, the largest such gap since July 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compared to Bitcoin, ETH\u2019s outperformance was approximately 1,100 basis points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lee noted that in previous months where ETH significantly outperformed BTC, Bitmine\u2019s shares subsequently outperformed Ethereum as well. This is a management observation based on past performance and does not guarantee the pattern will repeat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The macroeconomic environment also plays into the company\u2019s thesis. Tom Lee pointed to weakening U.S. inflation and employment data, noting that the estimated probability of a September rate hike dropped to 40% from 75% two weeks prior. He believes easier financial conditions would be favorable for the crypto market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 5% Goal is Within Reach<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With a total supply of 120.7 million ETH, a 5% stake would equal approximately 6.04 million tokens. With its current holdings of 5.81 million coins, Bitmine is roughly 230,000 ETH away from that threshold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This final stage of accumulation will be critical for the capital strategy. The company now manages billions in assets, most of its Ethereum is staked, and share buybacks are continuing in parallel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The focus is gradually shifting from the speed of accumulation to how Bitmine will manage such a high concentration in a single asset and what portion of returns will come from ETH price movement versus staking revenue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
