The letter, obtained by The Block, calls for an immediate retraction and hints at potential legal action.<\/p>\n<h3>Dispute Over Post-Pardon Accusations<\/h3>\n<p>Zhao was pardoned last week after serving time for failing to maintain an effective anti\u2013money laundering program \u2013 a 2023 charge that also saw Binance fined $4.3 billion and Zhao personally fined $50 million. Following the pardon, Warren <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SenWarren\/status\/1981401323280224349\" rel=\"nofollow\">criticized<\/a><\/strong> Trump\u2019s decision on X, asserting that Zhao had pleaded guilty to a \u201ccriminal money laundering charge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In her letter to Congress, Warren also alleged that Zhao\u2019s business ties to World Liberty Financial (WLF) \u2013 a DeFi project linked to the Trump camp \u2013 could have financially benefited the Trump family. She added that if holding the USD1 token constituted unlawful enrichment, \u201cthen every exchange listing that token would be guilty of the same offense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fox News earlier reported that Zhao is considering a libel suit against Warren.
