Robinhood stock surged on the news<\/a><\/strong>, while Strategy slipped nearly 3%.<\/p>\n

A committee\u2019s call, not just rules<\/h2>\n

The S&P 500 is often seen as the pinnacle of corporate recognition, with inclusion typically based on market cap, liquidity, and four consecutive profitable quarters. Strategy, holding over 636,000 Bitcoin and reporting steady earnings, looked like a strong candidate. Yet admission is determined by a private committee at S&P Dow Jones Indices. As ETF analyst Eric Balchunas put it, the index \u201cis essentially an active fund,\u201d meaning firms can be rejected even if they qualify on paper.<\/p>\n
