Timothy Peterson, a long-time cryptocurrency researcher, says historical data shows that certain calendar dates carry a far greater risk of losses \u2013 and late September is particularly dangerous.<\/p>\n

Late September stands out for steep declines<\/h2>\n

Peterson\u2019s data review reveals that September 21 has consistently delivered the heaviest average daily loss, coming in at about 2%. The weakness doesn\u2019t stop there: September 24 and March 22 also rank among Bitcoin\u2019s worst-performing days, both showing average declines above 1.5%. Two of those three dates fall within the same week, making the back half of September a recurring problem period for the digital asset.<\/p>\n

September 21 is the worst day of the year for Bitcoin. It drops nearly 80% of the time. <\/p>\n

It has the single largest calendar day loss with a median of -2.00% (March 22nd is second with -1.52%).<\/p>\n
