Calling it \u201cthe perfect asset for the next thousand years,\u201d Woo argued that Bitcoin\u2019s path to rivaling gold or the U.S. dollar still demands massive capital inflows.<\/p>\n

Currently valued at just over $2.4 trillion, Bitcoin\u2019s market cap lags far behind gold\u2019s $23 trillion and the U.S. dollar\u2019s $21.9 trillion supply. Woo stressed that narrowing this gap requires deeper adoption, but warned that the very infrastructure enabling institutional entry could be creating hidden fault lines.<\/p>\n

According to Woo, many corporate treasuries and ETFs fueling Bitcoin demand are sidestepping self-custody, instead parking holdings with custodians such as Coinbase or in vehicles like MicroStrategy\u2019s treasury model. This concentration, he suggested, leaves large reserves potentially vulnerable to government intervention \u2014 a scenario he dubbed a \u201cnation-state rug pull.\u201d<\/p>\n

Woo also flagged the opaque debt practices of some treasury managers, warning that in a downturn, poorly positioned firms could dump substantial BTC back into the market. He noted similar risk-taking emerging within altcoin-focused treasuries, echoing patterns from speculative boom cycles.<\/p>\n

Max Kei of Debifi predicted that self-custody would expand gradually \u2014 first through institutional custodians, then corporate balance sheets, and eventually individual investors. Blockstream CEO Adam Back advised businesses to benchmark their performance against Bitcoin\u2019s projected growth, suggesting that holding BTC makes sense if they can\u2019t outperform it.<\/p>\n

Despite diverging strategies, the panel agreed on one thing: Bitcoin\u2019s long-term dominance won\u2019t hinge solely on its price trajectory. The real test will be ensuring it\u2019s held securely, distributed widely, and shielded from the systemic weaknesses that have plagued traditional finance.<\/p>\n
