A new law passed<\/a><\/strong> in late May will prevent any part of the state\u2014whether at the local or state level\u2014from accepting or investing in cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n

Starting October 1, 2025, public institutions across Connecticut will be barred from holding crypto reserves or accepting digital currencies as payment. The law, known as House Bill 7082, passed unanimously in both chambers, signaling rare bipartisan alignment on limiting crypto\u2019s role in public finance.<\/p>\n
