The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) uncovered discrepancies in his 2017 federal tax filing, leading to accusations of tax fraud.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the 2017 case, Ahlgren failed to report over $650,000 in Bitcoin sales between 2018 and 2019. On top of the prison time, he faces a $1.1 million fine and one year of supervised release.<\/p>\n<p>This case highlights the growing scrutiny of crypto-related tax offenses and the IRS\u2019s ability
